A skirt and the weekend

Friday we left to go to PCB for my baby sisters birthday, she turned 18 on Sunday and wanted to take some senior pictures she also wanted a polka dot circle skirt so I made it for her.

She's basically perfection

Loved those shoes!

We took tons of pictures all over 30A, by the way if you are ever that way that is THE place to take pictures sooo many cute places and stores and walls and everything.

While we were there Celeste enjoy being catered to 24/7, shes lucky to be the only grandchild (my side). She got a little pony that she LOVED but every time it would stop playing the music she would get off of it like the ride was done and if you made her put on a headband-like hat she would baby cry which I think is adorable and sorta funny.

The birthday weekend was tons of fun and I love seeing my family, but I'm def glad to be back home driving can really take it out of you.

It's meeting week around these parts and for me that means actually putting on make up and brushing my hair (booo) and after a weekend of fatty good foods I bought this this morning.

That my friends is 3 liters of water which sounds like a lot but is actually not even a gallon of water haha, hopefully I will drink this and not go and buy cheese grits and bacon for Lunch.

Wish me luck :)

A mini-sewing

Last night I finished my sisters skirt and you guys it looks soooo good! to the point T was like "Babe you should make one in every color for yourself" and I might just do that but since she hasn't seen it I don't want to share it just yet.

But I did want to share a dress I made last Sunday for Celeste, I made it before church because I wasn't "feeling" anything she had I mean I can only take so many pink church dresses. So I made it out of a shirt I used throughout my pregnancy and now I see myself fat every time I wear it.

Excuse the pictures but is really hard to take pictures of a child that can not sit still!

and this is what the 10+ pictures I took looked like.

Happy Friday!

7/30: What is your dream job, and why?

Remember these?

What is your dream job, and why?

Well my dream would be to sew and have people want to wear what I make.
And if theres money involved even better :)
Sometimes I get asked where does my love for sewing come from and I seriously can not answer that question I didn't grew up with it, my Mom is more of a ready-to-wear kind of person so when I asked for a sewing machine for my 16th birthday she was like "Really Jessica?" she got it for me regardless and I had it for a good 6 years before it died (thanks to Dixie). I remember the first thing I ever made was a skirt for my friend Lauren, I made on a Saturday night (we were super cool like that)  and I had no idea what I was doing I think I made her wrap herself with fabric and then sewed it and it looked pretty great until she put it on in the morning to go to church and couldn't walk because it had no slip but since shes an awesome friend she hop her way to the car and she hopped from class to class until Church was over, it makes me laugh every time I remember her telling people "Jessica made it".

I would also like to have Celeste running around while I do all this, is that too much to ask?

5/30: 5 Things that make you most happy right now

1. ITS THE LAST WEEK OF SESSION!!!!!
That describes itself, granted I have not worked the long hours I did last year thanks to babyface :) but I'm still looking forward to all my rightfully earned comp hours.

2. Babyface seriously she gets more adorable everyday, her personality is really starting to show and she cracks me up constantly I could look at her all day. And I have no doubt she will walk soon, very soon.

3. My bff T, hes just awesome. I love that guy of mine :)

4. My sewing machine, that gift just keeps on giving. Last night I was trying to get ready for today figuring out what to wear and I just wasn't feeling anything I had so I whipped up a skirt and I love it! it has the perfect fullness and springy feel.

5. The fact that May  is right around the corner and this month is filled with goodies like Mothers day and my bff Jessica comes into town which means the band is getting back together me, Lauren and Jessica will be reunited!

Baby weight and a dress refashion

About two weeks ago I started doing Insanity, whats Insanity you ask? well Insanity is this crazy intense workout DVD set, why you ask? because after watching the infomercial 3 times (just a random fact I love infomercials) and seeing results from an actual person it convinced me that I too could do it, so I called order it and two days later it was staring at me in the face so I had no choice but to do it, now what I didn't think about when I bought it was how in the heck am I going to fit in 45 minutes of workout into my already long session days and spending/taking care of Babyface I looked at my schedule and I tried to ignore it but there was no other choice I would have to get up at 5 in the morning to do it so I did and I have for the last two weeks needless to say I'm pretty proud of myself, you might be curious about my results well there isn't any crazy changes yet but I have been super sore and with a lot more energy through out the day but most important of all I have been able to fit in into my dresses and pants pre-babyface (with a bit of muffin top but I'm working on it) which is an accomplishment on its on because after gaining more than double the recommended weight YEP you read that right double what can I say I blame my non-morning sickness and delicious breakfast food! darn you cheese grits and all of awesome cheesy goodness! anyways needless to say getting back into my regular jeans put a smile on my face still not completely back but I'm getting there :)

On a completely different note about 3 weeks ago I went to PCB to visit my baby Brother and his broken arm and ended up doing a little refashion on my baby sister dress Prom dress. disclaimer: the dress might look 100 times better because of her beautiful-ness

All I did was add the straps, bedazzled them those shiny things were a pain but totally worth it and jazz up the back the result was one of a kind and she love it.

This past weekend was a nice relaxing one no driving, no chores just hanging out.

These two are hilarious, Celeste LOVES Dixie she grabs her face and pulls on it Dixie is a great sport about it, it might have to do with the fact that Celeste drops 30% of her goodies on the floor which means snack time for Dixie. Celeste is getting to be such a big girl, shes been loving her sippy cup and LOVES to move shes what T calls a "wiggle worm" she acts as if shes going to get up and go places and do things, as of right now the only place she is going is backwards she learned to crawl sorta because she can only go backwards and refuses to be taught another way believe me I tried and ended up with a river of tears...dtama queen, she does sit up by herself which as a first time mom it amazes me everytime :)

These are the doings around these parts the plan is to hopefully take some 6 month pictures of Celeste but it has not been an easy task since the last thing she wants to do is to sit still.

Celestes Nursery

First of all I want to say how grateful I am to be the mother of Celeste. she is the sweetest most amazing baby and how wonderful it is to know that our family is forever.

On a less intense note my mom is gone :( she was with us for a week and we were wonderfully spoiled now we have to feed ourselves, things dont magically get clean and Dixie wont get to play as much as she did with Matthew.

On the plus side the nursery is done!
Yay! Finally!
We also got Celestes baby earrings in the mail and they are perfect! they are tiny little baby pearls :)
So I'm still rocking a jello-belly... and man thats the most unattractive thing ever! but we got a treadmill so I'm planning on using that bad boy at least 30 minutes every day, I got on it 2 days after we got from the hospital and yeah that was stupid so I'm going to wait just a little bit longer.

Work shower and a dress

I'm 36 weeks today
but who's counting anymore...

Anyways ignore my cranky self

Last week I had my work baby shower

How cute is that invite!? DIXIE IS IN IT!
Well the breakfast was amazing there was chicken minis, Snickers/Twix donuts, bagels and fruit it was awesome, I got diapers and presents but the most awesome part is that I got a present ME! a sewing caddy filled with all my cravings and a Hobby Lobby gift card
Oh those Criminal Justice peeps they know how to make my day thats for sure :)
I might have used the card that same day at lunch

Also check out the sweet carriage, Celeste is so fancy her diapers comes in cool shapes

So even though my energy level is like below zero I managed to make a dress, a knit dress from scratch for my friend Tab she's getting married in October and her bridal shower was this past weekend (in Chicago) when I asked her what she wanted for a gift she send me a link and asked me if I could do it- now one thing you need to know about Tab is that she has two Corgis and she loves them so thats how this dress came to be...so here it is!

Yes those are corgi stamps, adorable right? the funny thing is I did it in one night without any measurements just eyeing it and it fit her perfect she wore it for her bridal shower which made me feel super special :)

Celeste Update-

Now that the showers are over all I have to look forward to is D-DAY
29 days from today

thats a little scary, just a bit even though I'm SO ready to have this baby I still have so much to do hospital bag, finish decorating the nursery and cleaning the house before its go-time, the cleaning part might take a while with me working until my due date and having no energy after work is a slow process but my Hispanic self will make it no worries
the only sucky thing right now is that my Iron levels are super low so they are deferring me to an specialist to see what he says, the good thing is that the baby gets all the Iron before I do so shes good
on a brighter note we finally got the crib
and the stroller

so we are pretty much set :)

19 weeks and Sew on

Here are some of last months projects
The list will go from cute to WTH!?

First we have the tutu-

I can only take credit for the one on the left
SUPER CUTE HUH?
I know I know I have the cutest nieces, seriously all of my nieces are ridiculously cute
my baby has some serious standards to live up to.
Second on the list- The T-shirt Blanket
Why can we all live right next to the beach?!
This was a project my lady boss did but I guided her through it from what kind of material to get to how to use the sewing machine.
Pretty sweet? I think so!

And last but oh certainly not least are the Richard Simmons outfits

Yes, that is a life size Richard Simmons

I made those shorts/shirts from scratch and I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself.
Now belly talk
19 weeks

Now this is a morning belly with just coco krispies and milk.
The after dinner belly not as "cute".

weight gained so far? about 8 pounds :( on the plus side my appetite (for fatty foods) has decrease a whole bunch.
maternity clothes? I use the belly band for work pants and still use some of my shirts but mostly I wear maxi skirts and dresses.
stretch marks? not yet but they are coming I can feel it.
sleep? Pretty good I slept for 14 hours last weekend, 14 hours straight. Oh to sleep.
best moment of the week? Finding out that there is a little girl about to join our family and T calming me down when I suddenly freak out about giving birth he has some serious talent for toning down my crazy.
food cravings? Nothing out of the ordinary.
looking forward to? I can't wait to move and start setting up the nursery and  I get to go to PCB this weekend to see my family which is great.

Also my hair is all one color again...YAY! not that is that much different than before but I was getting really tired of those highlights.

Look at you dressy dress

Saturday I woke up at 6 in the morning because Ziggy my friends dog was coming over to hang out while his brother went to a tournament.
And oddly enough I stayed up maybe because I had gone to bed at 8ish the night before, oh them Hudsons they be going crazy.

So what does a hispanic girl do this early in the morning I'll tell you what she does-she cleans.
After cleaning while playing with the puppies I went on to my next exciting adventure.
Making a little girls dress from scratch

DUN DUN DUNNNNNN

I was making a little girls dress out of her moms dress.
Tanesha happen to really love the fabric of a dress she no longer wanted to wear.
So she asked me if I could make a little girls dress out of it and as it turns out...
I CAN :)

At first my thought was like crap-ity crap I can not do this.
But by then I was already cutting the dress...

Ts hourly comments throughout the "process":
"Whats that suppose to be?"
"Is it inside out?"
"Oh I see its a shirt"
"Oh a shirt and a skirt"
"Ok, I won't say anything else"
and finally...

"Dang babe that actually looks good"

That pretty much sums up my dress-making journey.
I did it in like 5 hours so the inside could have used lining but there was no time.

Lady in coral

5 things that are sure to make me smile-

1. Getting a letter from my older brother.
2. Making empanadas with my family.
3. T dancing with Dixie.
4. Quoting Friends with my sister.
5. Drinking Coca-cola out of a can.

A while ago I posted this picture of this lace dress

and thanks to Pin-Interest (I recently notice I was saying it wrong thanks Kristen) I had the need to dye it red like this kind of
Pinned Image

And with Ts help it turned out like this

A light red-ish coral color it looks better in person, these pictures were taken by Mr. Self timer and let me tell you doing that is hard,  you have to press the button focus the camera, run to the spot and act as if it ain't no thing.
If I keep on "modeling" I will get T to be the photographer, can't promise my face will look any better though.

This afternoon we are leaving to West Virginia we have snacks, drinks and movies to watch.
We are not stoping until we get to South Carolina.
It should be fun...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Fox or Faux leather?

Let's get this out there I'm foreign, English is my second language and sometimes usually when I'm tired or is late my english "battery" sort of runs out.
So when I told T I was making a fox leather purse, he looked at me and said "faux"
with a duh look on my face I said "yes fox that's what i said."

The faux-fox dilemma of him saying faux and me "repeating" it saying fox
went on for a good couple of minutes
before I realized there was a difference. Excuse my foreign self.

Anyways I made a FAUX leather purse, I turned out only ok since I don't have the special needle(also known as the quilting needle).

I'm debating whether using myself or to "gift it" (Ts idea)
the inside in a chevron pattern, I bought this fabric like 2 months ago and couldn't think of anything to make with it.

Also I decided to do this (found on pinterest)
